Invitation from India
Lavesh Lakhina of the Indian Expat Society and Arun SwamiPersaud of The Bridge were approached by India to take part, together with Dutch companies, in the Global Sports Summit seminar in New Dehli. This was a big sports seminar organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce Trade and Industry (FICCI).
FICCI indicated that members were very interested in the Dutch sports knowledge in the field of infrastructure, coaching, marketing, media and the organization of top events and the sport for all.
Involvement of the Dutch Ministery of Economic Affairs
The Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands supported the delegation extensively. The promoting of Dutch sport and its sports companies offered a good chance for Holland Branding in India. The Ministry values the promotion of the Netherlands as a sporting country also in view of the 2028 Olympic Plan.
The Bridge was asked by EVD International to execute a market survey to research the opportunities on the upcoming Indian sports market and to mobilize a group of sports companies and associations that could be interested in a trade mission to India. Ronald Kramer (DRK management) supported the preparations for this mission.
Connecting the Dutch & Indian sports sector
On December 9th, 2009, the delegation, consisting of a variety of companies, architects, builders, suppliers of artificial turf, sport management advisors, media companies and sport associations, took part in the Global Sport Summit. Marc Lammers, Dutch top hockey coach and Olympic gold medal winner, addressed the participants at the summit.
Consequently the Dutch companies had great exposure and enlarged the opportunity to actually market their products and knowledge in India.
Dutch sport companies united in a forum
The trade mission to the Global Sports Summit consisted of seven Dutch companies. First contacts between associations and companies have been established. One of the delegation’s conclusions was that doing business in India needs the building up of relations. We want to research how we can implement a long standing programme and sports network for sports exchanges between the Netherlands and India and other upcoming markets. This sports forum will be called Orange Sports Forum.
